The Cape Wrath long distance Trail is just short of 200-miles long and runs from Fort William to the most north-west tip of the Scottish mainland, a challenging and often remote route which, in essence, could be described as the hardest long distance backpacking route in the UK. ------- more

The goal of the International Appalachian Trail (IAT) is to extend its trail network to all countries and regions once united by the supercontinent Pangea more than 250 million years ago, when the Appalachian, Caledonian, and Atlas Mountains were formed by earth's plate tectonics.The CWT and Wester Ross Alliance (WRA) have joined with the IAT thus completing another vital link in the chain, when completed it will form the longest hiking route in the World.

The CWT is a unique addition to the IAT being a geographical area rather than a set trail, all other sections of the IAT are waymarked routes.
